Haiti - Culture : 4th Edition of the Festival «En lisant» (Program)

We remind you that from 8 to 17 July 2019, in Port-au-Prince, under the initiative of the Haitian Theater Intervention Brigade (BIT-HAITI), the 4th Edition of the Contemporary Dramaturgy Festival "En lisant" (By reading) dedicated this year to the monologue.

"Faithful to its concern to always tie theater practice and reflection on the stakes of contemporary society, the festival intends, for this new edition, to focus on what we can call, in the words of Clothilde Thouret, the dramaturgy of the interiority (monologue)," explains Stephane Saintil, Communication Manager of the Festival.

Under the generic title "Finally Alone", this edition has the theme "From gagging speech to the extinction of gagged speech". If the credits "Finally Alone" is a nod to the eponymous collection of Lansman Editeur which, moreover, celebrates its 30 years of existence, the theme as for it, is part of an artistic process aiming at creating a debate around the liberation of speech in Haiti.

By Lisant proposes from 8 to 17 July 2019 to the Foundation Knowledge and Freedom (FOKAL), the French Institute of Haiti (IFH), the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), Yanvalou and Kay Sonson Mathurin Anbazanmann, readings, lectures, talks, film screenings and training workshops for 10 days.

"For its 4th edition, the Festival has opted for a bold and progressive bias : all stagings will be worn by women performers, a way of being in solidarity with the women's struggle for equality and counteracting the the omnipresence of men on the boards as everywhere else," explains Stéphane.

Michèle Lemoine and Sachernka Annacassis are the two women figures in the spotlight for this edition. Belonging to two different generations, these women embody, each in their own way, two models of women-artists-creators inhabited by the same passion for the performing arts.
