Saturday morning near the community of Sainte-Marie (upper of Canapé-Vert) a propane gas tank exploded in a house, for an unknown reason, triggering a violent fire that quickly spread to other houses due to their proximities, sowing panic in the area.

The blast of the explosion and the fire completely destroyed 18 houses and left at least 4 wounded including 3 children and an elderly person burned to the second degree. The victims were taken care of by the communal authorities and rushed to the hospital. No deaths have been reported.

The rapid intervention of the Municipal Committee of the Directorate of Civil Protection of the area and then the firefighters allowed to circumscribe and extinguish the fire.
