Haiti - USA : The massive deportation of Haitians may aggravate the economic crisis in the country

The lawyer Aviol Eugène, a Haitian expert on migrants in conflict with the law, explained on the air of a radio of the capital that the policy of President Donald Trump of massive deportation of all foreigners in irregular migration to the United States, will put an end to the transfer of money for thousands of families in Haiti and will have a negative impact on the economy of the country in general.

Recall that on July 4, the US Immigration Service launched operations against immigrants in irregular migration situation, in 10 major cities of the country, including Miami where is the largest concentration of Haitians. Although these operations are initially aimed at people under deportation orders, many Haitian immigrants in Miami, Florida have been targeted by police officers. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28267-haiti-flash-diaspora-campaign-of-deportation-donald-trump-worries-the-haitians.html

Me Aviol Eugéne points out that nearly 50,000 Haitians are also likely to be expelled from the United States from next January 2020 at the expiry of the Temporary Protection Status (TPS) granted since the earthquake of 2010 in Haiti and prolonged thanks to court decisions https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27066-haiti-flash-diaspora-victory-against-trump-the-dhs-extends-the-tps-for-haiti.html . However, he pointed out that in case of a suspension of the TPS, Haiti could face a worsening of the economic crisis with the return of tens of thousands of people and the sudden reduction of remittances, which contribute with the whole of the diaspora up to 30% of Haiti's Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
