At least 7 people electrocuted

Tuesday, on the street of Dr. Aubry, in downtown Port-au-Prince, an electric cable broke and fell on merchants and passers-by. At least 7 people were electrocuted and rushed to hospital.

Prosecution of the Head of State, the opposition absent at the time of the vote

Several opposition deputies left the debate to try to quash the quorum and postpone the meeting, but did not succeed, Speaker Gary Bodeau recalled that the opposition members having left the room of the sitting, having not scratched their names, were still considered present in accordance with Rule 156 of the Rules of Procedure of the Lower House. The presence of the members of the minority radical opposition would in no way have changed the outcome of the vote and the rejection of the motion.

School directors summoned to the public prosecutor's office

Four school principals (Brother Valmir Dabel of Saint-Louis de Gonzague, Natacha Dorcé of Bird College, Myriam Dorélien of the Daughters of Mary and Gina Lassègue of the Christian Academy) were summoned by Government Commissioner Paul Éronce Villard and are expected at the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince Friday, August 23, 2019 to respond to complaints from parents who accuse them of excessive increases in school fees.

Commando case

WFP helps 42,000 people

The World Food Program (WFP) continues its emergency operations for families most affected by food insecurity in Haiti. Last week, 42,000 people received financial support. This week, WFP teams plan to assist 29,000 more people.
