On Thursday, Chancellor Bocchit Edmond met with his Bahamian counterpart, Daren Henfield. The two men discussed the measures taken by the Haitian Government after the corruption scandal and the Bahamas visa traffic that splashed the Embassy of Haiti and forced the Bahamian authorities to suspend the issuance of visas for Haitian citizens.

A decision that is not without serious travel problems for Haitians wanting to go to the Bahamas and who can not, unless they already hold an US visa, Canadian or Schengen (European).

At the end of this meeting, Bocchit Edmond said "[...] We asked him to tell us how long this suspension, taken for technical reasons, will last [...] emphasizing him that it was important that the Government of the Bahamas reestablish as soon as possible the issue of visas for Haitian citizens" giving no indication, however, of the position of Daren Henfield and his Government on this eventual recovery...

The two men also address the issue of illegal travel by Haitians fleeing Haiti to come to the Bahamas in search of a better life.
