Weapon Seizure at home of Chief «Big»

Precisions of the Oil Professionals

The Association of Petroleum Professionals (APPE), in a statement in the media said that its vocation of the APPE is not to ration but to ensure the regular flow of petroleum products. However, the APPe calls on the authorities to take the necessary measures to restore the carriers' confidence and to put in place a permanent mechanism to guarantee the payment of debts to the oil industry.

Criminal fire of a municipal vehicle

On Thursday, individuals from Fort-Libre, a neighborhood at the southern entrance to Saint-Marc, set fire to a pickup truck belonging to the city's town hall. According to information provided by the chief mayor, Nicolas Dorvilus, the individuals pointed the driver who was accompanied by a town hall engineer, took the keys and burned the vehicle. The protesters believe that the town hall is useless for the city that collapses under the rubbish.

1,700 detainees released

Thursday at a press conference, the Port-au-Prince Government Commissioner, Paul Eronce Villard, announced that approximately 1,700 inmates of the national penitentiary have been released in the last 8 months noting that most of the detainees had been imprisoned for minor offenses punishable by 12 to 36 months in prison, while some had spent up to 15 years in prison without being tried. On the other hand, it is regrettable that Commissioner Villard is always careful not to indicate the number of new people incarcerated during this same period, which will allow the population to have a complete vision of this balance sheet...
