Haiti - Culture : Land of women, 150 years of women's poetry in Haiti

The Ministry of Culture and Communication (MCC) and the National Directorate of Book (DNL) are inviting writers, academics, professionals, of the communication and the general public to the sale-sign of the poetry anthology "Terre de Femmes : 150 ans de poésie féminine en Haïti" (Land of women, 150 years of women's poetry in Haiti), Friday, May 6, 2011.

his anthology, composed of a book and a CD is edited and published by the Editions Bruno DOUCEY, with the collaboration of Marie Laurence JOCELYN LASSEGUE, current Minister of Culture and Communication. It contains works of 33 Haitian women, mostly unpublished, which marked the Haitian literature for a century and a half. It crosses three major periods of the literary and poetic production of Haiti: the period from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century until 1915, the period from 1915 to 1986 and finally the contemporary period, from 1986 to days.

The sale-sign will take place Friday, May 6, 2011, between 11am and 5pm at the premises of the DNL, located at the corner of Cheriez and Martin Luther King, ISPAN premises. The MCC and the DNL invite the public to come numerous, to discover this new work of the Haitian poetry and enjoy to share with the authors that will be present.
