Haiti - FLASH : Falsified drugs alert

Dr. Marie Gréta Roy Clément Minister of Public Health, informs the public in general, health professionals and distributors of pharmaceuticals in particular, that two falsified versions of "amoxicillin + clavulanic acid" products have been seized during pharmaceutical inspection visits.

These products have the following characteristics:

Product Name : Augmentin and Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium

Manufacturer mentioned: Novopharm Limited and TEVA Phamaceuticals USA

Lot Number : 35405327A

Expiration date : 10/2020

Active ingredients mentioned : Augmentin and Amoxicillin Potassium Clavulanate for Oral Suspension, USP

Product Name : Bactoclav

Manufacturer mentioned: MYLAN

Lot Number : BSTU0039

Expiration date : 05/2020

Active ingredients mentioned : Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate for ORAL Suspension, USP

These products have the same lot numbers of two fake "amoxicillin and clavulanic acid" products reported in 2014 but with a different expiry date.

The Ministry is calling on those in charge of pharmaceutical supply chains to strengthen surveillance, particularly with respect to these falsified products, and wants them to collaborate by notifying and removing shelves in case these products become part of their stock.

An alert for these products is published by the World Health Organization in collaboration with the Ministry and the VigiCarib network of the Caribbean Public Health Agency in a regional and international surveillance framework.

Once again, the Ministry is asking people to buy their medications only in authorized pharmacies.
