Dozens of soldiers arrived Sunday at the Dominican-Haitian border to join the reinforcements provided by the top military commanders in the region, because of the intensification of the demonstrations in Haiti demanding the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse because of the lack of fuel and rising commodity prices...

The soldiers were received by the director of the Fourth Army Brigade of the Dominican Republic in Mao (Valverde) and by the commander of the Tenth Army Battalion in Dajabón, respectively by Colonels Ramón Belén Pichardo and Joel Santana.

The two senior officers stated that on the orders of the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem; the director of the army, Major General Estanislao Gonell Regalado, following the instructions of President Danilo Medina, has reinforced the security levels along the border with Haiti.

"The armed forces have been equipped and prepared to make our border ever more secure, so we are ready to face any eventuality that may come from the neighboring country," said Rubén Darío Paulino Sem.

Gonell Regalado flew with other senior military commanders throughout the border region.
