Haiti - FLASH : Former Deputy Bélizaire escapes the police !

On Friday, November 29, several agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) were positioned on the courtyard of the "Troquet café théâtre" in Saint-Marc. They had come to carry out a warrant to bring against former deputy Arnel Bélizaire extremist militant of the radical opposition, for notably "Plot against the internal security of the State" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29383-haiti-flash-the-former-deputy-arnel-belizaire-accused-of-conspiracy-against-the-security-of-the-state.html , which addressed to the activists and sympahisants.

However, at the time of their intervention, the police officers, bothered by the militants are not able to arrest Arnel Belizaire who managed to escape. A tense situation where the security forces tried in vain to repel the demonstrators before shooting in the air to disperse them.

Supporters of Bélizaire, then organized a spontaneous demonstration, erecting barricades of burning tires blocking traffic to protest the forceful intervention of the police.

Learning of Arnel Bélizaine's arrest attempt, heavily armed men from Grand-Goâve reacted violently. At least 3 vehicles transporting goods were burned by unidentified armed individuals on the national road #2at Grand-Goâve, imposing their law on motorists all along the road HL/ HaitiLibre / Guyto Mathieu (Correspondent Petit-Goâve).
