Haiti - Education : Presentation of the skills profile of professionals in health sciences

On December 10 at the Montana Hotel, as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), to improve the quality of health care and services, Marie Gréta Roy Clément, Minister Health through its Health Sciences Training and Development Department, in the presence of, among others, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education formally presented the competency profile of professionals in Health Sciences.

For Minister Clément, the main objective is to achieve "an alignment of our different training institutions around a body of expertise adapted to the epidemiological profile of the country and the essential package of services defined by the Ministry of Public Health and Population, while meeting international requirements."

Minister Cadet welcomed this progress, which is in line with the progress already made in the education sector, which has a National Training Plan for Education Personnel presenting the entry and exit profiles for each category of staff. He stressed that this document "becomes the frame of reference for all categories of professionals in the health sciences" adding "it represents a major step in the regulation of the sector and for the professionalization of health staff. It will provide clear guidance for the development of human resource management strategies and the development of training programs as well as the formative supervision of the health professional."

Cadet expressed confidence that with the publication and dissemination of this document, the Ministry of Health and its partners will be able to continue to improve the quality of health care provision to the population, while waiting for the upcoming vote of the national budget to allocate sufficient financial resources for its proper execution.
