Haiti - Health : A new maternity in Bombardopolis

The Evangelical Hospital of Bombardopolis (HEB), the reference structure in the North West Department, serving approximately 50,000 inhabitants, opened its new maternity ward.

Funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) to the tune of 145,000 Euros, evening ± 14.5 million Gourdes (including equipment), this new maternity includes among others : 1 observation room, 1 postpartum room, 1 local for nurses, 2 delivery rooms, 1 room for pre-eclampsia surveillance and 1 consultation room.

This project was carried out by the NGO Initiative Développement. The reorganization of the services was carried out with the support of International Medical Assistance (EMI) and the Ecumenical Service of Mutual Aid (SOE), particularly at the pharmacy level which has been brought up to the Ministry's standards. A single fund has been set up to centralize payments and streamline costs; the services have been reorganized with better financial and administrative management to better ensure the functioning and salaries of HEB.

Note that all these actions were part of a larger project of "Support to Maternal and Child Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in Haiti" (2016-2019).
