Haiti - Bahamas : 113 Haitians repatriated to Port-au-Prince

On Thursday, December 12, the Bahamas repatriated 113 Haitians in an irregular migration situation to Haiti (via a Bahamasair flight which left the archipelago at 10:10 a.m.) bound for Port-au-Prince.

The group included the 39 undocumented Haitian migrants arrested Wednesday on a small island off the south coast of Great Inagua.

Clarence Russell, Director of Immigration said "the Government has expelled hundreds of undocumented Haitian migrants since the passage of Hurricane Dorian [...] we have great empathy for these people, especially after the passage of the hurricane, but the Bahamas remains a sovereign nation with laws that we, as an agency, are compelled to enforce in a humane but effective manner, taking into account the rule of law [...] We wish them a safe flight."
