Following the reception of the document prepared at the Marriott hotel on November 11, President Moïse wished to exchange with the signatories of the Marriott agreement and to this end sent them each an invitation for a meeting at the planned National Palace this Friday at 1:00 pm

Invitation :

"The cabinet of the President of the Republic presents its compliments to you and has the advantage of informing you that the President of the Republic, His Excellency Jovenel Moïse, officially received from the Passerelle Initiative Group the document that you developed at the Marriott Hotel on November 11, 2019 and entitled 'Marriott Agreement' or 'Port-au-Prinec Consensus". Also, the President of the Republic wishes to discuss this document with you and therefore invites you to a meeting at the National Palace on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 1 a.m."

Besides the signatories of the Marriott Agreement, the 3 signatories of the joint declaration of the 2 days of discussions held at the Apostolic Nunciature, official diplomatic seat of the Vatican https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29551-haiti-flash-crisis-failure-of-the-mediation-to-the-apostolic-nunciature.html were also invited to know : Senator Joseph Lambert, coordinator of Konbit Masyonal (KONA); former Senator Paul Denis, Coordinator of Inifos and Éric Jean-Baptiste, Secretary General of National Progressive Democrats (RDNP)".

Nahomme Dorvil, the Director of Cabinet of the Presidency, stated that this invitation was part of a prospect of finding a solution to the crisis that the country has been going through for several months.

Following these invitations, Moïse wrote on his Twitter account : "The crisis that has shaken the country for several months has gone on too long. At this time of celebration, I invite my compatriots from the opposition to join me so that together we offer a political agreement as a gift to our people who are suffering from this crisis."

The opposition's response was quick and clear "No meeting on Friday with Jovenel Moïse" André Michel said "After 3 hours of discussions, the 5 political entities signatory to the Marriott Agreement [ “Altènativ Konsansyèl pou Refondasyon Nasyon an” : Antoine AUGUSTIN, Serge JEAN-LOUIS ; Forum Patriotiqne de Papaye : Junot FELIX, Jean William JEANTY ; “Mache Kontre” : Edgard LEBLANC Fils, Rosemond PRADEL ; Bloc Démocratique pour le Redressement National : Victor BENOIT. Emmanuel MÉNARD et Opposition Institutionnelle : Youri LATORTUE, Saurel JACINTHE ] have decided to decline the hasty invitation without agenda from President Jovenel Moïse. A correspondence will be sent this Friday to President Jovenel Moïse to notify him [...]" adding that the signatories of the Marriott Consensus remain particularly attached to the resignation of President Moïse and his replacement by a judge of the Court of Cassation and the establishment of a transitional government.
