Haiti - Security : Nearly 6,000 police mobilized for the holiday period

Thursday Commissioner Michel-Ange Louis Jeune, Spokesperson for the National Police of Haiti (PNH) unveiled the measures adopted by the High Command to allow the population to go about their business peacefully before, during and after the end of year holidays (December 15 to January 7, 2020).

To do this, Michel-Ange Louis Jeune indicated that the High Command had decided to strengthen the security system throughout the national territory. "A security plan, integrating with the spider's web operation plan, is set up to allow the population to go about their business, in the best possible conditions of safety."

In the west department alone (Metropolitan area), 5,472 police officers from different specialized units will be deployed and the police will also be at work to ensure the safety of life and property throughout the national territory.

The device will be reinforced in particular in areas difficult to access by specialized units and places such as shopping centers, banks, public buildings, national roads, petrol stations, civil prisons, ports and airports, bus stations, public markets and nightly festive activities and tourist areas will all be secure. Adding that "The police also plan to conduct targeted operations."

This device according to the Spokesperson will involve all police units : the Criminal Brigade (BAC), the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), cell against kidnappings), the Brigade of Operation and Departmental Intervention (BOID), the Departmental Order Maintenance Unit (UDMO), the Traffic Directorate of the Road Police (DCPR), the Tourist Police (PoliTour) and the Border Police (PoliFront) among others.
