Haiti - FLASH : Dismantling of a large network of weapons and ammunition

Tuesday at Puits Blain 9, a neighborhood of Pétion-ville, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) led a joint operation with in particular the SWAT, the Brigade of Research and Intervention (BRI), the Brigade of Fight against Drug Trafficking (BLTS) and the Central Direction of the Judicial Police, (DCPJ).

During this operation, Arby Frantz Larco, suspected of being one of the leaders of a powerful transnational arms trafficking network, was arrested.

This big catch was carried out thanks to the collaboration of the intelligence services of the PNH and abroad. Numerous handguns, automatic weapons and assault rifles of various calibers, as well as several thousand munitions, were among others seized.

According to a police source, several other searches, in the presence of the judicial authorities, took place in particular in Delmas and in the City Center, which would have made it possible to dismantle in Haiti a cell of a network of arms trafficking.

Arby Frantz Larco is currently in the hands of the DCPJ, which is interrogating him in an attempt to find out the origin of these weapons and ammunition and to obtain the names of his accomplices and the clients of this network in Haiti.
