Haiti - Politic : Positive exchanges between Moïse and members of the opposition

Thursday at the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse met separately with several political leader of the moderate opposition, namely Senator Joseph Lambert of the "Konbit Nasyonal" Party (KONA), Eric Jean-Baptiste, Secretary General of the Rally of National Progressive Democrats (RDNP), both signatories of the joint declaration of the Apostolic Nunciature https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29551-haiti-flash-crisis-failure-of-the-mediation-to-the-apostolic-nunciature.html and a delegation from the Kinam Accord Group, led by former Senator Déjean Bélizaire.

These exchanges follow the talks initiated at the Apostolic Nunciature on December 17 and 18 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29551-haiti-flash-crisis-failure-of-the-mediation-to-the-apostolic-nunciature.html aiming to find a peaceful and negotiated solution to the crisis that our country has been experiencing for several months.

This meeting, tinged with firmness, disagreements, nuances and cordiality, was an opportunity for these political leaders to advocate for the conclusion of a lasting political agreement. Moïse, who claims to have had sincere exchanges with his interlocutors, continues to believe that a concerted and inclusive solution must be quickly found in the dialogue, in order to end this deadlock for the benefit of the population.

"This December 26, President Moïse received me in audience. Between the nuances and the disagreements, a clear conversation reinforced the idea of a political agreement which must put the country in construction" said Senator Lambert after his meeting.

All agreed to combine their efforts and meet again to continue the discussions.
