Friday, during his participation in the program "Le rendez-vous économique" hosted by the economist Kesner Pharel, Governor Jean Baden Dubois of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), provided details regarding the position of the Central Bank as part of its monetary policy in the current context :

"On the hypothesis of the penalizing nature of the monetary posture of the BRH, the actors who maximize, legitimately certainly, a micro-economic function of profit, must be able to make the difference compared to the responsibility of our institution which manages a macro system.

The BRH approach in an adverse environment consists, most of the time, in making complex arbitrations to produce a balance while waiting for the improvement of the structural parameters to allow us to get out of the persistence of a 'second best' zone.

In this context, the question to ask is to wonder whether the profitability objective must reach its maximum limit on the ruins of the economy and outside the responsibility of the regulator to establish rules favoring a balance even sub-optimal ."
