Early Monday afternoon Luis Almagro, the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), arrived in Haiti for a brief 24-hour visit.

Almagro was received in audience by President Jovenel Moïse, in particular the socio-political situation in Haiti was discussed. However, no official press release was published on the content of the meeting, but a joint conference is scheduled for Tuesday by the Head of State and the Secretary General of the OAS, who will leave Haiti in the afternoon.

He also had a meeting with the American Ambassador accredited to Haiti Michèle Jeanne Sison about the situation in Haiti "I had a fruitful conversation with Ambassador Sison about the political situation in Haiti and the importance of the collaboration between the OAS and the United States in the implementation of projects aimed at strengthening democracy and human rights in the country," Almagro said on Twitter.

Recall that Haiti will assume from April 1 to June 30, 2020 the rotating Presidency of the Permanent Council of the Hemispheric Organization.
