Haiti - FLASH : Rebel police, attack staff and destroy equipment at the IGPNH

Following the Friday police demonstration https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29977-haiti-news-zapping.html and the hearing the same day by the PNH General Inspectorate (IGPNH), of the policewoman Yanick Joseph coordinator of the movement which advocates a union within the police, Rameau Normil, the Director General ai of the PNH, in a note said to have learned with amazement the attack on a group of individuals, some of whom were hooded and police officers claiming to be from a union movement not recognized by law and prohibited by the regulations of the PNH, who forcibly entered the premises of the IGPNH on Friday.

These individuals verbally and physically assaulted the staff and destroyed the materials and equipment of the Institution, they also vandalized the vehicles in the vicinity of the IGPNH.

Rameau Normil "[...] unreservedly condemns such acts and wants to emphasize that this violence has no place in the rule of law and even less in a police institution. They tarnish the dignity, image and hard work that are expected of every police officer in these difficult times that the country is going through.

Consequently, in order to preserve the moral integrity of the Police Institution, the discipline of its march and unconstitutional cohesion and to maintain public order, all the perpetrators and accomplices of these acts of violence and vandalism which constitute serious criminal offenses, in addition to administrative sanctions will be prosecuted and brought before the competent courts to answer for their forfeits."

Recall that the prohibition of collective bargaining within the framework of a union, enshrined in the general discipline regulations of the PNH that the police sign at the time of their integration, is in accordance with international conventions which authorize States to impose restrictions on the exercise in particular of the right to strike within the military and police forces for reasons of national security. In the PNH the demands and negotiations are made by the hierarchical way.
