Haiti - Politic : The New Minister of Justice determined to fight crime

Thursday, in the presence of many personalities including the special adviser to the Head of State Jude Charles Faustin, Me Michelin Justable Director General of the Central Financial Intelligence Unit (UCREF) the Commander in Chief of the National Police Rameau Normil, magistrates, lawyers and Directors, Coordinators and Heads of Services of the Ministry the new Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe has installed Me Lucmane Délile as the new Minister of Justice and Public Security. He replaces Me Jean Roudy Aly, who spent approximately 8 years at the head of this Ministry.

In his intervention for the occasion, Prime Minister Joseph asked the new Keeper of the Seals to do everything in his power to create a climate of peace and serenity in the country, stressing "[...] It is unacceptable that troublemakers create panic in the streets without being worried" and calling on the new Minister to make good use of the Public Security component of his mission. Jouthe Joseph is convinced that the prison must contain highwaymen and criminals and not those who have committed petty crimes like the "little thieves of bananas or chickens" who according to him must leave the prisons to make room for those who believe they can wreak havoc in the country.

For his part, the new Minister Délile, after the usual thanks, promised to do everything in order to fulfill his mission for the benefit of the community and to spare no effort to fight banditry, saying "Either they collaborate with the CNDDR [National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling and Reintegration], or they will be prosecuted and put behind bars". However aware of the immensity of the challenges, Lucmane Délile called for everyone's collaboration.
