Haiti - Politic : INITE does not intend to impede the choice of President Martelly...

It seems that the platform INITE, leading political force in Parliament does not intend to block the ratification of Daniel Gérard Rouzier, the Prime Minister-designate and leave the field open to President Martelly to constitute his Government team...

The Senator Moïse Jean-Charles (INITE) has advised that the "decision of the parliamentarians of INITE will rely essentially on technical aspects [documents and constitutional requirements] and non-political" while expressing reservations about the capacity of Prime Minister-designate, to be able to deliver the promises of the Head of State... He recalls that Mr Rouzier "is part of the economic elite that controls most of the wealth of the country, while the living conditions of citizens continues to deteriorate."

The Senator, Jean Rodolphe Joazile, President of the Senate, declared that the Prime Minister-designate, "should not have difficult to pass this first step" recalling nevertheless, that the latter "must secure a majority in Parliament for that his General Policy Statement can be ratified." The Senator also felt that it is necessary to let to the Head of State, "the latitude to form his government team [...] It would not be good that INITE participates in the implementation of this Government" estimates Jean Rodolphe Joazile, who recalls that Michel Martelly campaigned on the theme of the rupture, while INITE had made its campaign on the continuity. The Senator added that "INITE has a comfortable majority in Parliament and that the majority intends to play its constitutional role of control of the Executive."

The position of INITE, if it becomes a reality in practice, should allow the Government team to be constituted quickly, in order to begin work as soon as possible. It would appear according to several sources, that the choice of Prime Minister-designate, causes more reactions in the camp of the President, that within the Parliament...
