Haiti - Politic : Towards the end of the works of the dam on the Marion river

On visit recently on the construction site of the hydroelectric micro-hydroelectric dam on the Marion River, in the locality of Grand Bassin, in Terrier Rouge (North-East), Ministers Patrix Sévère (agriculture) and Nader Joiséus (Public works) announced the end of work next November (almost 3 years since the start of construction). Work started in 2018 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24264-haiti-politic-official-inauguration-of-dam-works-on-the-marion-river.html as part of cooperation Cuban and its hydraulic engineers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26713-haiti-technology-towards-a-transfer-of-hydraulic-knowledge-with-cuba.html

Recall that this important infrastructure, in addition to the dam required, among other things : the construction of a reservoir with a capacity of 10 million m3, 3 important earth dikes (for filling), the installation of two conduits of 1.2 m diameter water under concrete and a concrete weir with a maximum capacity of 450 m3/s as well as a 53kw solar pumping station.

This pumping station will allow farmers, in particular rice producers, to facilitate watering operations and guarantee the availability of water for farmers by allowing the irrigation of 10,000 hectares in Grand Bassin, Acul Samedi, Savane Square, Malféti etc... and also allow fish farming...

The technicians are currently carrying out work to protect dike #1 and to install valves to facilitate the installation of the mini power plant and to bring water into the irrigation system...

Regarding access to drinking water for the entire population of the region, water treatment centers will be installed through the National Directorate for Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA).

Officials estimate that the works are at 72% and estimate that in August they will be close to 85%
