Haiti - Politic : Statements of assets and liabilities are still awaited

The law of February 18, 2008 in its provisions, requires to the members of the outgoing government, former parliamentarians who were not reelected and all public servants and other public employees, to file their declaration of assets and liabilities before the clerks of Courts of First Instance to their place of residence within the 30 days after their appointment or at the end of their mandate. It is from these statements that the Unit for the Fight against Corruption (ULCC) conducts investigations when necessary. Heritage Foundation for Haiti (FHH), section of Transparency International (TI), recalls that this law aims "to guarantee the transparency of political life, to protect the assets of the state while preserving the dignity of the registrants." The FHH, wishes the respect of this law and asks the ULCC to take all appropriate measures in case of irregularities.
