Haiti - Florida : 24 illegal Haitians intercepted near the coast of Palm Beach

Since the past weekend, the US immigration authorities have intercepted during two separate operations, two boats near the coast of Palm Beach County (north of Miami), which were carrying a total of 24 Haitians.

One of the boats was intercepted Tuesday, November 17 near the Mar-a-Lago club, owned by President Donald Trump, reported John R. Modlin, the head of the border patrol in the Miami area. He explained that the 10 Haitians in an irregular migratory situation were arrested as well as 2 Bahamians accused of smuggling people were handed over to "Customs and Border Protection for legal consequences while the illegal migrants will be repatriated to Haiti.

Modlina pointed out that this was the second case of human trafficking near the coast of Palm Beach in two days, adding that Sunday, November 15, another boat loaded with immigrants including 14 Haitians had been intercepted.

Recall that during the last exercise of the CPM (October 2019 to September 2020), the American coast guard intercepted more than 2,500 Haitians who tried to enter the United States illegally.
