Haitian President Michel Martelly will be in Miami on Saturday June 25, 2011 for his first official trip to South Florida. The President will hold a series of events aimed at engaging the Haitian Community and the unveiling of his "Haiti Means Business" campaign.

"The working visit to Florida is part of the Diaspora Appreciation Day aiming to recognize and strengthen the involvement of the Diaspora in the development effort of the country" indicates a press release of the Office of Communication of the Presidency.

President Martelly will attend a series of events, starting with a 10 AM brunch at Florida International University Kovens Conference Center North Campus (3000 N.E. 151st Street, Miami, Florida 33181), where he will officially recognize the local Haitian Diaspora, the contribution is of $100.00 per guest, fort information contact the Office of President Michel Martelly at (305) 900-9191 or Stephany Sirius at (305) 731-1476.

This brunch is hosted by the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami, the Former Miami Heat Great Tim Hardaway, Chazz Woodson, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime, Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness, North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre & the City Council. Officials from the City of North Miami Beach will attend this event.

At 3:30 PM, City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado will host President Martelly at Little Haiti's Emmanuel Sanon Soccer Park for a free community rally. The President will address the media and answer questions at the Park from 5:30 to 6:00 PM.

A private reception hosted by Michael Jean François Capponi, and sponsored by the Haiti Investment Team, discoveringhaiti.com and the Soho Beach House will be held at 7:00 PM at the Soho Beach House 4385 Collins Ave. Miami Beach. During this invite-only event, potential investors in larger scale sustainable projects in Haiti will have the opportunity to liaise with the President. The Honorable Ralph Latortue, Consul General of Haiti in Miami will be present at the reception.
