Haiti - Politic : The two Turkish floating power plants will be installed in 2021

The Turkish company Karpowership (of the Karadeniz Energy group based in Istanbul) is in the final stages of contractual negotiations with Electricité d'Haïti (EDH) for the deployment in Haiti of two floating power plants (Powerships) with a total capacity of 115 Mw aiming to serve Cap-Haitien 24/24 [36 Mw] and improve distribution in the metropolitan area [79 Mw].

Michel Présumé, the Director General of EDH underlined that these 2 power plants on barges will double the capacity of EDH.

The barges will be installed in 2021 and the generators will initially be fueled with heavy fuel oil "with the intention of switching to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) before the contract expires," Karpowership said.

Learn more about Karpowership :

Karpowership is the sole owner-operator and builder of the world's first Powership fleet. Since 2010, 15 Powerships have been completed and installed with a total installed capacity exceeding 2,800 Mw.

Karpowership is also in talks with Cuba to install additional thermal Powerships to support three others which provide 10% of the island's electricity.
