Haiti - Diplomacy : New Ambassador of Haiti to Taiwan 19/01/2021 09:19:08
Monday, January 18, 2021 in Taipei, as he prepares to take up his post in Taiwan (Republic of China), the new Ambassador of Haiti, Hervé Denis, presented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Wu, a copy of the credentials that he will officially present to President Tsai Ing-wen at an accreditation ceremony. The two discussed issues of mutual interest to the two countries.
Minister Wu looked forward to working with the Ambassador to deepen the friendship between the two countries. On behalf of the Taiwanese people and Government, Joseph Wu further conveyed his thanks to Haitian President Jovenel Moïse for his long-standing support for Taiwan's participation in international organizations. Ambassador Hervé Denis stressed that Taiwan is an important ally of Haiti and thanked the country for the projects it is carrying out in Haiti for the well-being of its people. He hoped that in terms of economy and trade, Haiti can establish a "public-private partnership" with Taiwan and seize new opportunities to expand cooperation by taking advantage of Haiti's geographical position in the Caribbean. A confirmed diplomat, Ambassador Hervé Denis has been posted to the United States, Germany, Canada, the Dominican Republic and Geneva with the United Nations. He also held important positions such as Minister of Labor in 1985 and Minister of Defense from 2017 to 2018. As President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (2000-2016), Hervé Denis has already visited Taiwan three times. HL/ HaitiLibre
