On Tuesday, Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe proceeded to the installation of Me Marie Giselhaine Mompremier (Minister of Tourism) as Acting Minister (a.i) of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST). Ms. Mompremier was appointed by presidential decree published in the Special Monitor N°5 dated Monday January 25, 2021, she replaces Nicole Yolette Altidor in this position.

In his speech the head of government explained that this change was imperative "in view of the dysfunction of this institution for several months". He urged the new Minister a.i. "[...] to apply the framework sheet given to her in order to allow the institution to respond effectively to its vocation. The Haitian social security system must live up to the expectations of the population [...] As the human face of the Government in the context of the implementation of its protection and social security policy, MAST has the obligation to support the most vulnerable."

For her part, the Minister a.i Marie Giselhaine Mompremier, after the usual thanks, said she was aware of the task entrusted to her. "[...] The action of this institution must and will participate in the overall government vision through these three major priority areas, namely, the restoration of the security climate; the reduction of social inequalities and the revival of the economy [...]" emphasizing "[...] its implementation will greatly contribute to providing concrete answers to the many expectations of the Haitian population thirsty for social justice."

This installation took place in the presence in particular of the Minister of Culture, two electoral advisers; the Secretary of State for the Integration of People with Disabilities; the Director General of the Social Assistance Fund, officials from the Ministry for Women's Affairs and MAST.
