Haiti - Justice : The Commissioner of the Government relieved of his duties

Me Harrycidas Augustus, the Commissioner of the Government (Port-au-Prince Chief Prosecutor), at the heart of the scandal of the death of the accused, Serge Démosthène, following to the police brutalities in the file on the assassination of the President of the Board of Directors of the Banque Nationale de Credit (BNC), Guiteau Toussaint, was dismissed from his post last week.

Sonel Jean-François [one of the substitutes of Commissioner] was appointed last Friday, as Acting Commissioner of the Government.

The revocation of Me Harrycidas Augustus is the first important decision of the Ministry of Justice, headed by Jean-Max Bellerive [Prime Minister resigned] which ensures the interim, pending the formation of the next Government, since the resignation of Minister Paul Denis, on Tuesday.
