Haiti - Pétion-ville : Water problem, DINEPA explains

Guito Édouard, the Director General of the General Directorate of the National Directorate for Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), informs the public, in general, and Pétion-ville customers in particular, that the problem of the water supply recorded in several neighborhoods of the comlmune of Pétion-ville during these last days is due to the accelerated degradation of the areas of the water sources of "Tèt Dlo" and "Desplumes" pumped for decades by the DINEPA.

Indeed, all the manholes and / or hydraulic installations of the catchment of the source "Tèt Dlo" are blocked by alluvium accumulated in these manholes preventing the passage of water in the drains...

DINEPA technicians, with the support of other public institutions with heavy machinery are hard at work to resolve this problem as quickly as possible.

"DINEPA warmly thanks Pétion-ville customers for their patience and understanding and will temporarily make DINEPA treated water tankers available to the public, mainly in precarious neighborhoods."

Finally, Guito Édouard launches an appeal to the authorities concerned to work "in favor of the protection of the near and distant perimeters of water resources and to mitigate at the very least, anarchic constructions".
