This Wednesday March 10, President Jovenel Moïse published on his official Twitter account a message to the Nation that we invite to read, comment and share.

Message from President Jovenel Moïse :

"[...] we left the field open to the corrupt oligarchs to perpetuate the plunder and the grabbing of all the national wealth. It is time to realize this and act differently. It is time to realize this to save our dear Haiti.

35 years after the emergence of the so-called democratic forces, it is sad that no compromise has been found in the direction of the emancipation of the people. Corrupt oligarchs have won the battle of division, antagonizing those who should unite for a better Haiti.

'Retire pye paw poum mete pam' : our only national sport for ages. Yet no team wins without all of its players aiming for the same goal. It is time to embrace this collective way forward. We owe it to our children. WE owe it to our country.

After decades of fratricidal struggles and repeated failures, the fervor and commitment to development must not wane. The prestige and authority of every honest citizen must increase to breathe new life into the corrupt oligarchs.

In the aftermath of 1986, we were mistaken in believing that everything was going to be easy. Fratricidal struggles have shaken the foundations of our Nation. Dark forces escalated the plots. We have only one alternative : the national agreement.

My travels in remote areas remind me of this secular collective failure. We have abandoned the hinterland. In our regions, the energy of the inhabitants is overflowing. It would suffice to facilitate their inclusion for them to put themselves at the service of the Nation.

Love Haiti, prevent others from dividing us for the benefit of their interests. We have an obligation to see things differently so that our country can once again become a haven of peace. Thus, we will be able to consider innovative and sustainable solutions for the happiness of all.

Transform our country, prevent the corrupt oligarchs from plundering our wealth before changing the country the wrong way doom us to do so. To achieve this, the true sons of the Nation must come together around the same table for a frank and sincere dialogue.

After decades of systematic plundering of State property by corrupt oligarchs from diverse backgrounds, the country needs a collective awakening, a frenzy of intense collaboration and production to get out of the rut of sub -development."
