Haiti - Agriculture : The agricultural revolution in greenhouses

Earlier this week, Patrix Sévère, the Minister of Agriculture visited the Association Solidarité Haitienne pour le Développement Rural de Kenscoff (SOHADERK) during its 3rd pepper harvest at the Kenscoff greenhouse, in the presence of Jean Élie Philogène Departmental Agricultural Director of the West (DDAO), Pierre-Paul Jules President of SOHADERK and greenhouse growers.

The Minister of Agriculture said he was satisfied to note that, through the Ministry's greenhouse agriculture promotion program, it is now possible to start exporting greenhouse peppers which will optimize farmers income.

For his part, Pierre-Paul Jules, believes that greenhouse farming is important for agriculture in Haiti and that greenhouse farmers in the commune of Kenscoff in particular will reap many benefits from it.

Jean Élie Philogène, explained the importance of greenhouse production in improving the productivity of farmers, highlighting among the advantages, the possibility for farmers to cultivate and harvest even out of season.

Minister Sévère promised to continue to work on the creation of new greenhouses for the benefit of farmers with a view to increasing national production.
