Haiti - Security : The United States have repatriated this week 36 Haitian «undesirable»

In accordance with the priority of expulsion of foreigners who pose a threat to public safety, U.S. immigration authorities have repatriated to Haiti this week, in a government aircraft, 36 Haitian previously convicted of various crimes in the U.S. and having finished serving their sentences.

After being registered by the authorities of the Department of Immigration and of the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ) to the International Airport Toussaint Louverture, the group was divided into two.

A first group of 15 people was released immediately because of the light sentences purged on American soil and their health.

The second group of 21 Haitians, underwent a short interview, in relation to the severity of their case and the consequences this might have on public security in Haiti.

These people should be given to their families as soon as possible, informs Florence Élie of the Office for the Protection of the citizen and citizenship.

American Commission on Human Rights and prominent Catholic bishops protests vigorously, since the resumption of deportations by the United States in January 2011. These actors of the national life, highlight the crisis and the insecurity in Haiti and describe these expulsions of irresponsible and inhumane. They ask the U.S. government an immediate end to these practices.
