Declaration adopted by the OAS :

"The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States having received the sad news of the odious armed attack that took place on Wednesday July 7, 2021 at the private residence of the President of the Republic of Haiti, which ended in the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse as well as serious injuries to his wife, the First Lady of the Republic,

DECLARED

1. To present its condolences and solidarity to the family, the Government and the people of the Republic of Haiti for the attack on the life of the duly elected President of the Republic;

2. Condemn with the utmost energy the heinous crime committed against the life of the late President and urgently call for a rapid international investigation to bring the perpetrators to account for their act;

3. Categorically reject all forms of violence and intolerance, while calling on all sectors of government and society for peace and calm.

4. Affirm its continued support for dialogue between political parties, respect for the Constitution of the Republic of Haiti and democratic institutions of the State.
