Haiti - Education : Clinton offers $1,250.000 - 10,000 children will go to school

Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, had a working meeting yesterday Thursday, July 21 at the National Palace with the former President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton, and the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, around the program of free and compulsory education of the head of state.

At this occasion, the members of the Office of the President of the Republic made a exhaustive presentation of this important project that the head of state has never ceased to promote. Recalling that the education is the top priority of President Martelly, the team of the Presidency has identified the regions of the country without school infrastructure to better provide answers to many children of Haiti unable to benefit of the essential bread of the instruction.

During this meeting, in which the star Wyclef Jean was also present, the President Clinton has announced that he [his foundation] gives a donation of 1,250,000 dollar to the education project of the President Martelly. This contribution will enable more than 10,000 children to take the way of the school by September 2011.

[HL during his visit to New York June 26, 2011, the President Martelly had declared "...I must tell you, that gives us $100,000 per day... Basically, it cost $100 per student for one year [of school], so it is like we send 1.000 students in school every day" Now the President Martelly said that with 1.25 million dollars he will send 10,000 children to school, so $125 per child ?]

The head of state is committed, once again, to turn into reality his dream of free education and do not want to miss any opportunity to mobilize the energy in order to achieve this objective for the benefit of the Haitian people.
