Haiti - Insecurity : A student seriously wounded by bullets

Incidents erupted Friday afternoon near the National Palace, in front of the Faculty of Ethnology in the area of ​​the Champ de Mars, after that Roosvelt Rosier Verdieu, a student of the Faculty of Law and the National Institute of Administration of Management and High International Studies (INAHEI) was victim of an aggression near of the Faculty of Ethnology and seriously wounded by bullets.

According to testimonies, unidentified persons would have robbed the laptop of the student and attempted to rob his other goods. The student would have courageously resisted to his attackers, who have opened fire twice, seriously wounding him in the chest, before fleeing. The student was rushed to a hospital.

In response, students from the Faculty of Ethnology, joined by other young people ... have set up barricades of burning tires and threw stones at vehicles, disrupting traffic. Students verbally attacked the President Michel Martelly, whom they accuse of having done nothing to fight against insecurity, despite its electoral promises. The Champ de Mars is known as a zone at risk, frequented by delinquents and criminals who attack almost daily, the passers-by and residents...

Special forces of the National Police of Haiti (CIMO and UDMO) have intervened to disperse the demonstrators.

"... It is the third student who is a victim by bullets of the insecurity in the area of ​​the Champ de Mars, already two died, one is on the operating table, we do not know if he will stay on it..." has indicated one of the student protesters.
