Haiti - Amputee football : Our Grenadiers are training for the 2022 World Cup

The Amputee Football World Cup will take place this year in Turkey in October 2022 and our Grenadiers will try to obtain their ticket again to be present at this World Cup as in 2018. 24 countries will participate in this World Cup

The Haitian Amputee Football Association (AHFA) has a national team. About thirty Grenadier amputees have been training since November 27, 2021 under the direction of volunteer coach Rochenel Pierre.

The draw for the qualifiers for the Confederation of Football of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) places Haiti in the same group as the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador (3 between them will win their ticket for the 2022 World Cup).

Our Grenadiers amputees will play the knockout phase in a round robin where all teams face off in two matches from March 13 to 20, 2022, confirmed but probably in the United States.

Learn more about amputee football :

Football for amputees follows specific rules, like any discipline adapted to a handicap. The game takes place on a field of 60 meters by 40 meters (maximum 70 m X 60) is a half-classic football field. It has two goal cages with a maximum height of 2.2m, a width of 5m x 1m (depth) and a standard FIFA ball

The match is played over two 25-minute periods with a half-time of around ten minutes. A two-minute time-out is allowed per team and per match. The team is made up of 7 players (6 outfielders, one goalkeeper) and substitutes.

Field players (excluding goalkeepers) must have a lower limb amputated. The goalkeeper must have an upper limb amputated, therefore a hand.

Players cannot use their crutches and stump to manipulate the ball. If this happens, it is considered "a hand" unless it is unintentional.

In addition, using the crutch against a player results in exclusion and a penalty.

Finally, offside does not exist in disabled football.
