Ms. Sophia Martelly, the First Lady of the Republic of Haiti, has closed last Friday the activities of the summer camp 2011, held at the EFACAP (Basic School of Application Teaching Support Centre) of Kenscoff, under the initiative of the Presidency as part of the project "One Laptop per Child (OLC)", around the theme "Timoun Ayiti Pi bèl".

This two-weeks summer camp realized in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), the Ministry of youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Network of vocational education and ecological interventions (REPIE) has allowed to 450 children from the town of Kenscoff to to link the knowledge with the computer through the OLC program already announced by the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly. They were trained in physical education and have received an awareness on certain issues related to environment and the protection of rural areas and/or urban in which they evolve.

Sophia Martelly, encourages the sustainability of such initiatives across the country and recommends to the children which benefit from this programm "Timoun Ayiti Pi bèl" to put into practice what they learned during those two weeks and invites the responsibles of the EFACAP and EFA of Kenscoff to keep the excellence they have already demonstrated by showing a success rate of 100% during the final examinations of primary schooling.

Children have took the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge they have acquired during this training camp, to the First Lady. A young participant has prepared a book around the plants found in the commune, explaining their benefits and their use. Some have presented texts that praise a healthy environment, emphasizing the need to safeguard animal and plant species in their community.

Sophia Martelly, remains convinced that the development of Haiti must go through the development of the intellectual ability, physical and sporting of the young Haitians and is committed to give its full support alongside the Head of State.
