Wednesday, February 16, as part of the International Donor Conference concerning the financing of the Recovery and Reconstruction Plan for the southern peninsula of Haiti, devastated by the earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale on August 14 , the Minister for International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, the Honorable Harjit S. Sajjan, represented Canada.

In this regard, Minister Sajjan announced international assistance of $19.5 million for 4 projects. This sum is in addition to the funding of $50.4 million announced by Canada during the meeting of Foreign Ministers on Haiti held last month https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-35773-haiti-politic-canada-announces-$504-million-in-aid-for-haiti.html , which was organized by Canada to underline its solidarity with Haiti.

Projects supported by this investment :

• $4.5 million in humanitarian assistance to protect vulnerable Haitians and provide food assistance
• $1 million to improve integrated health services for women, adolescent girls and children in earthquake-affected areas

• $4 million to support post-disaster rehabilitation efforts in earthquake-affected areas

• $10 million to strengthen the security sector

"We must continue to work together to build greater resilience and restore peace and prosperity in Haiti for stronger, safer and healthier communities there," said Minister Harjit S. Sajjan.
