Haiti - FLASH : Arms trafficking, Father Frantz Cole in custody

As part of the investigation into the seizure of weapons and ammunition in Port-au-Prince hidden in a container under the cover of the franchise held by the Episcopal Church of Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37154-haiti-flash-seizure-of-weapons-and-ammunition-imported-under-cover-of-the-franchise-of-the-episcopal-church-of-haiti.html Father Frantz Cole, current diocesan executive secretary of the Episcopal Church after having refused to appear on (5, 12 and 14 August) at the invitations of the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ), finally under a mandate to bring and prohibited from leaving the territory, was arrested and taken under duress on Wednesday August 17, 2022, to the Office of Financial and Economic Affairs of the DCPJ.

Let's recall that hidden in a container under the franchise of the Episcopal Church of Haiti was discovered on July 14: 18 assault rifles (AK-47, Galil and M4) a 12-caliber rifle, 4 9 mm caliber pistols, nearly 20,000 ammunition of different calibers, 120 magazines 1 sight and counterfeit notes for the amount of 50,000 US dollars.

According to various sources, it would be Father Frantz Cole who initiated the customs clearance process for the container and who contacted Gina Jean-Louis Rolls (arrested too https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-37163-icihaiti-arms-trafficking-arrest-of-gina-jl-rolls-customs-broker.html ) as a customs agent (broker) to ask her to follow up on the customs clearance of the container in question.

Following his hearing, Father Frantz Cole was placed in police custody for the continuation of the investigation for arms and ammunition trafficking, smuggling, tax evasion, tax evasion, illicit enrichment and laundering of assets from serious offences. Divisional Inspector Garry Desrosiers confirmed this arrest and the custody.

Let's recall that in a statement the Episcopal Church of Haiti had formally denied any involvement in this arms trafficking https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37154-haiti-flash-seizure-of-weapons-and-ammunition-imported-under-cover-of-the-franchise-of-the-episcopal-church-of-haiti.html
