Haiti - Politic : Demonstrations, violence, vandalism, looting, several victims

Wednesday responding to calls from political leaders including those of Jean Charles Moïse, of the radical opposition of the Party "Pitit Desslin", thousands of Haitians took the streets once again in Port-au-Prince and in cities in the provinces (Port-de-Paix, Petit-Goâve, Jérémie, Jacmel, Saint-Marc, Miragoâne and Les Cayes) against insecurity, high cost of living (inflation above 30% https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37586-haiti-flash-inflation-breaks-records-and-crosses-the-30-mark.html ), the shortage of fuel, the devaluation of the Gourdes, the exchange rate and the departure of Prime Minister a.i Ariel Henry, waving placards of Haitian flags and launching anti-government slogans.

In Port-au-Prince, 1 dead and several wounded are reported. The PNH used mobile patrols to prevent attacks on banks and gas stations. Many vehicles were vandalized...

"The demands of the Haitian people are not a game [...] We are in the streets forever. The population wants the country to be a paradise for all Haitians, not just for 2%," declared Jean Charkes Moïse present in the demonstration.

Barricades of burning tires and rocks have been erected in the metropolitan area, particularly in Pétion-ville, Carrefour de l'Airport. In downtown Port-au-Prince, all commercial and banking activities that have closed for fear of attack and vandalism...

In Jérémie hundreds of residents who were protesting against the increase in the cost of living organized looting in the Lower Town area, at least two food shops selling rice, peas, oil and other foodstuffs. At least 3 injuries were reported during violent clashes between the police and demonstrators who intervened to prevent further looting of food warehouses...

In Petit-Goâve, thousands of protesters closed the doors of all money transfer houses to demand that the money they receive from abroad be delivered to them in dollars.

In Hinche several injuries were reported.
