Haiti - Crisis : The lack of fuel threatens all jobs in the Caracol Industrial Park

Finding itself unable to obtain fuel, the company (NRECA international), electricity supplier to the Caracol Industrial Park and its surroundings, alerted its customers on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, to a possible break in its services.

Letter from NRECA :

"Dear customers,

You are witnesses to the crisis that has affected the country for months, paralyzing all activities.

Despite our best efforts to coordinate with our suppliers well in advance to maintain the already paid fuel supply for the power plant, the suppliers are unable to remove it from the oil terminal due to blockades and attacks gainst tanker.

We are exploring other alternatives such as purchasing fuel from other suppliers outside the country, but these measures have not yet materialized.

In order to maintain electric service for as many days as possible, we are managing loads on the system and plan to provide partial electric service to our customers starting from today September 21, 2022 until complete shutdown from the plant. In this way, the electricity service will be disconnected for a few hours during the day and a few hours late at night

In addition, we would like to inform that as soon as the fuel supply of the power plant becomes regular, the electricity service will be regular."

Very bad news for the thousands of workers who could find themselves unemployed if no solution is found in time, but also bad news for the Park's future customers who risk being discouraged and move to another country where manufacturing operations are more stable...
