A bandit killed, a policeman injured

Sunday, October 30, an individual was fatally injured during exchanges of fire with the police in the Delmas 19 district (Imperial Cinema area). A weapon belonging to the victim was seized. A policeman was slightly injured.

Dominicans arrest 4 Haitian bandits

Sunday, October 30, the Dominican police arrested 4 Haitian bandits who were trying to cross into Dominican territory in two vehicles. Subsequently, these individuals were handed over to the Haitian police authorities of the border town of Belladère.

Increase and acceleration of deportations in Dom. Republic

Cholera : 300 ASCP deployed in the field

Following their training by the Western Health Department with the support of PAHO/WHO, 300 Polyvalent Community Health Workers (ASCP) were deployed in the field and in particular in Cité Soleil where they have been undertaking for a week outreach surveillance and communication activities with communities affected by cholera. The work of ASCP is essential and allows the ministry to improve the collection and analysis of data as well as to sensitize the population by means of prevention and treatment of the disease.

Cholera Alert

In support of the Ministry of Public Health, the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in coordination with WFP-UNHAS (UN Humanitarian Air Service) organized the delivery of cholera beds from of the Dominican Republic. This delivery will increase the reception capacity of cholera treatment centers in Haiti.
