Haiti - Justice : Illegal occupation of land intended for the construction of housing for police officers

The General Directorate of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) takes note of the incident that occurred at Delmas 33, Street Charbonnière where armed individuals posing as police officers illegally invested in a property intended for the construction of social housing for the police men.

The High Commander of the PNH "condemns with the utmost rigor this act of spoliation undermining property rights, particularly those of police officers regularly enrolled in this program initiated by the Haitian Government since October 2020."

Therefore, the General Directorate urges the police officers to be vigilant and to avoid any manipulation and infiltration aimed at defeating such a laudable project and at the same time tarnishing the image of the PNH.

An investigation has been opened to identify, together with the competent judicial authorities, the authors, co-authors and accomplices of this illegal occupation. Instructions were passed to the General Inspectorate of the PNH to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to the police institution as part of the execution of this real estate project.
