Haiti - FLASH : 28,647 Haitians expelled from the Dominican Republic (November 2022)

The month of November 2022 was marked by an intensification of the mass expulsions of Haitians in an irregular migratory situation by the authorities of the Dominican Republic.

Repatriations November 2022: 18,063 Haitians

Official points: 15,508 (Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe)

Unofficial points: 2,555 (Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel))

Voluntary returns: 7,247 Haitians

Official points: 2,650 Haitians

Unofficial points: 4,597 Haitians

Pushbacks at the border: 3,337 Haitians

Official points: 2,798 Haitians

Unofficial points: 539 Haitians

Grand total of Haitians returned to Haiti in November 2022: 28,647 Haitians

Contrary to certain rumors circulating suggesting that repatriations will decrease, on Tuesday December 6 the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) indicated in a press release that control operations against undocumented foreigners in the country intensified in November. Last October 20,115 Haitians in an illegal migratory situation on Dominican territory were arrested during migration control and repatriated to Haiti.

According to the DGM, the repatriation operations "will not slow down and will not stop, according to the instructions of President Luis Abinader and in compliance with the law."
