Haiti - Jérémie : End of the mission for the USNS Comfort, donation of medical supplies (Video)

Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the morning, on the port of Jérémie, site of the humanitarian mission, the managers of the USNS Comfort hospital ship closed the "Sustainable Promise 2022" mission in the presence of the authorities of the Grand'Anse department. During his mission, the staff of the hospital ship provided care to more than 1,000 Haitians.

At the end of the ceremony, a batch of equipment valued at more than 300,000 dollars was handed over to officials from the Town Hall, Departmental Public Health, the Departmental National Police Department, the Department of the National Port Authority, the Directorate of Civil Protection as well as the head of the office of the Grand'Anse delegation

The crew of the Comfort take with them melodies from great Haitian musicians and memories of new friends. In tribute to Haitian musician J. Perry, the U.S. Fleet Forces Band on the USNS Comfort performed a musical rendition of the song "Dekole" before departing Haiti.

In addition, earlier this week, 16 pallets comprising 300,000 sachets of oral rehydration solution (ORS), donated by the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), were transferred to Haitian and Pan American health officials (PAHOs) during official handover ceremony attended by U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Daniel Erikson, U.S. Embassy in Haiti Chargé d'Affaires Eric Stromayer, and representatives of the Haitian Ministry of Health, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

The ORS sachets were purchased as part of SOUTHCOM's humanitarian assistance program and will be used to provide rehydration therapy to Haitian patients infected with cholera as part of the response internationally.
