Haiti - Education : 3rd World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE)

The 3rd World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) will take place as every year in Doha [Qatar's capital] and will receive more than 1000 invited experts from a hundred countries, who will discuss and present innovative solutions in the field of education. For its hird summit, from November 1 to 3, WISE has chosen the theme "changing societies, changing education".

The program "The voice of students" of WISE selected this year, three Haitian students who will participate in this World Summit, through debates and conferences, while informing the general public through videos and blogs on the internet. The three students selected are from the Faculty of Sciences of the State University of Haiti and the Faculty of Agronomy of the University Quisqueya. Like other personalities, the President Michel Martelly, has been invited by WISE to express, via a video interview, his choice for education in Haiti.

After the earthquake of January 2010, WISE has established a working group composed of nine Haitian and international experts to help rebuild the education system in Haiti. Its objective is to mobilize experts from the summit WISE, to identify and analyze the educational experiences conducted in Haiti and abroad, to help develop innovative public policy and forge public-private partnerships. This working group organizes a seminar to Port-au-Prince on September 28 and 29, 2011. Several innovative projects conducted in Haiti, will be discussed at the seminar include :. Tipa tipa, the Ecoles vertes (Green Schools) of Gros Morne, the Foyer Maurice Sixto and guest house of Nos petits frères et sœurs (Our little brothers and sisters).

The WISE program for the leadership in education, aims to support managers of institutions of higher education in their activities. This year, Jocelyne Trouillot, of the university Caraïbe, and the Dr. Evenson Calixte, of the University Quisqueya, are expected to attend the seminar in September with other representatives of institutions from Brazil, China, Ecuador, Georgia, Ghana, d Iraq, Jordan and Nigeria.
