Haiti - Economy : More than 14 billion gourds in revenue, the DGI is satisfied...

After the announcement last August, by the Director General of the General Administration of Customs, that the customs revenues, (October 2010 - July 2011) are up, to 19 billion gourdes (1 USD = ± 40 gourdes), it is the turn of the Directorate General of Taxes to announce tax revenues of 14.5 billion gourds (over 360 million U.S. dollars) higher than the prediction of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which provided for 2010-2011, revenues of 12.9 billion gourds.

It was during its 13th meeting held in Les Cayes, on the theme "Widening of the tax base, issues and perspectives" that Robert Joseph, Director General of the DGI, has announced this result in front of the highest officials of the DGI. He was visibly satisfied with the performance of his institution, he attributes these results to a better organization and administration of the means used to motivate citizens to pay their taxes, despite the natural reluctance of Haitians to fulfill their taxes...

The DGI is committed to increase its revenues for fiscal year 2011-2012 and to improve its services to the population.
