Haitians stranded in Peru

The President of Peru Dina Boluarte Zegarra, on April 26, 2023, declared a state of emergency at the borders and ordered to block migrants traveling from Chile (mainly from Haiti and Venezuela) trying to leave the country and have been stranded at the border for several weeks between Tacna (city in southern Peru) and Arica (city in northern Chile).

Corruption : Search at the Town Hall of Ouanaminthe

Following numerous denunciations of possible significant facts of corruption concerning the Town Hall of Ouanaminthe, sworn agents of the ULCC searched for nearly 5 hours the premises of the Town Hall and other public spaces related to the investigation.

Cholera : UNICEF helping the population

Since the resurgence of cholera in Haiti, UNICEF has distributed 6.8 million water treatment tablets, 341,000 soaps and 8,000 sachets of oral rehydration salts to the population and health facilities.

Meeting between the PM and the President of Senegal

Distribution of mosquito nets

The Ministry of Public Health, via the Infectious and Communicable Diseases Coordination Unit, will launch the major 2023 Campaign for the mass distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets. This 2023 campaign targets : 86 municipal sections in 37 municipalities in 7 geographical departments.

Embassy of Canada closed
